For all things candle and home fragrance making!
Lacking inspiration? Turning a corner with colour and scent
Often find that you want to branch out? Whether you’re stuck for ideas or you’re looking for inspiration, when it comes to candle and wax melt making, the world truly is your oyster! Crafting candles is an outlet for creativity and with the right tools and inspiration there are no limits to what you can create! Let's take a look at the ways in which you can get crafty with your candle creations!
Colour
If you’re looking to inject a splash of colour into your candles why not explore our range of candle dyes. Whether you opt for liquid or chip, you can create a whole host of colour combinations and palettes for the ultimate creative colour freedom! If you’re looking to really push the boat out with your creativity why not try layering your candle? Making a few smaller batches of wax, each with their own different colours will allow you to layer different colours on top of each other. For more ideas and inspiration on how to create layered candles, why not take a look at our watermelon candle or rainbow candle blog on Candle College to see how you can make your own.
Glitters
Our candle glitter is ultra fine and is perfect for decorating the outside surface of wax candles or for adding to wax melts. At Supplies for Candles we also stock Bio-Glitter which is a biodegradable candle glitter made from trees, primarily eucalyptus, sourced from responsibly managed plantations. Using glitter to bring some eco friendly sparkle to your candle designs and wax melts is a great way to get creative! It's worth noting that glitter should only be used on the outside of candles and for decorative purposes only, we would not recommend using any of our glitters inside a wax or gel candle as this can be a fire hazard.
Mica powder
Mica Powders are stunning natural colours that are commonly known for their use in mineral makeup and eye shadows. Recently, micas have gained incredible popularity as a natural alternative to colouring waxes with an eye catching pearlescent sheen. Perfect for wax melts, micas are a great way to add depth and shimmer to your creations. The pearlescent nature of mica also means that when melted they create a stunning shimmering wax pool for your customers to enjoy. We recommend that you don't mix mica into the candle itself, because it can clog the wick, but you can use mica to decorate the outside of a pillar candle if you’re looking for an alternative to glitter.
Exploring scent
Fragrance oils are a blend of natural plant-based oils called essentials oils, and synthetic compounds which contain strong aromas. The key to the perfect candle is the perfect scent, and what better way to get creative than by exploring different scents. Fragrances can adjust our mood and enriches our lives. They can trigger forgotten memories, emotion and capture our imagination, so exploring these areas will soon see you producing something new. At Supplies for Candles our fragrance oils are manufactured exclusively for us, which means you won’t find our oils anywhere else on the market. With fragrances ranging from fruity, sweet, spice and woody, fresh, floral and seasonal you'll be spoilt for choice! Why not explore some of our categories for inspiration, whether it's exploring our Inspired By fragrances or something cocktail inspired, there’s lots to explore! It’s also worth knowing that all of our fragrance oils are suitable for vegans, they are not tested on animals and are paraben-free.
