How to make gold star wax melts
These star wax melts will make for a great stocking filler this Christmas and the fact that they're handmade makes them extra special! They're super easy to make and you have the choice of crafting a star bar or individual stars, the choice is all yours! We have used mica powder to give our stars a bit of sparkle and shine for a truly shimmering melting experience.
What you need:
- EcoSoya Melt
- Yellow Bekro candle dye
- Mica Powder
- Star Clamshell
- Scales
- Thermometer
- Pouring jug
- Fragrance oil
- Saucepan
- Bowl
Step 1 - Measure
Firstly using your bowl and scales, measure out 80 to 90 grams of EcoSoya Melt Wax.
Here at supplies for candles we like to use eco soya because it exhibits great scent throw, vibrant colours, and excellent mould release.
Step 2 - Melt
Next up, fill your pan halfway with boiling water.
Melt your wax on a medium to low heat and stir until melted.
Once your wax has melted, you can take it off the heat.
If you prefer to melt your max in the microwave, you can do so by placing your wax in a container on a medium heat for 5 minutes.
If your wax is not completely melted, stir and put it back in the microwave until melted.
Step 3 - Dye
Add your yellow chip dye to your wax and stir.
We have used yellow dye to create a truly Christmassy star bar but you could use other festive-themed colours such as red or green.
Step 4 - Fragrance
Let your wax cool to 65 degrees before adding your chosen fragrance oil and stir. then Our fragrance oils are compatible with our waxes up to 10%. So for a stronger throw, we would recommend a full 10% load.
Why not add a Christmas scent to your wax melts like our Golden Berries & Frankincense Fragrance Oil which has notes of orange, cassis, apple, golden berries and raspberry through a festive blend of saffron, clove and frankincense, the perfect scent for creating a cosy winner night atmosphere. Shop the rest of our festive fragrances here.
Step 5 - Mica powder
Add your yellow mica powder, we use a 5% mica powder to wax ratio.
By using mica powder you can create a sparkly effect when your wax melts are burnt for an even more enjoyable experience.
Step 6 - Pour
Transfer your wax into a pouring jug.
Slowly pour your wax mixture into your star clam shells.
With our star clamshell you can create individual stars or a star bar, the choice is yours!
Done!
Leave your clam shells to set overnight, for cure time we recommend around 2 weeks.
We’d love to see your work!
