How to make bleeding heart wax melts
Bleeding hearts may look like normal wax melts but when they melt, red wax begins to pour out creating the bleeding effect. They are great for Halloween as they create a gothic atmosphere.
What you will need:
- EcoSoya Melt Wax
- Red candle dye
- Heart clam shells
- Standard clam shells
- Forbidden fruit Fragrance oil

Step 1 - Melt
Measure out 80 grams of EcoSoya Melt Wax.
Fill your pan halfway with boiling water.
Melt your wax on a medium to low heat, stir until melted.
Once melted take off the heat and add a few drops of red dye and stir.
Step 2 - Set
Cool to 55-60 degrees then pour into the clam shell (any higher could melt the clam shell).
Then leave to set.
Once set then cut into pieces.
The Hearts
Step 3 - Melt
Melt around 80 grams of wax, do not exceed 80 degrees
Once melted, remove from heat then let cool to 65 degrees then add your chosen fragrance oil we have used forbidden fruit.
Cool to 55-60 degrees then pour, only fill the hearts half full.
Wait 10 minutes for the wax to cool, but do not let it set.
Step 4 - Red wax
Place the red wax into the middle of the hearts.
Lightly press the red wax so it will not move when pouring the top layer of wax.
Step 5 - Pour
Then pour the rest of the wax on top.
If you see the red wax begin to melt, stop pouring and wait 2 minutes for the wax to cool.
Leave to set over night, for cure time we would recommend around 2 weeks.
We’d love to see your work!
