What is a soy wax candle?

Soy wax candles are candles made from soybean wax, rather than traditional paraffin. Most soy candles and waxes are an all-natural, cruelty-free and vegan option, making them an excellent choice for those looking to make eco-friendly candles.

Are soy wax candles vegan?

Yes, soy wax is vegan! It’s derived from soybeans, making it a natural vegan and renewable product, so any candles made from soy wax are also vegan and eco-friendly.

How long do soy wax candles burn?

Exact burning times for candles or wax melts depend on the volume of wax used and the size of the product. However, as a general rule, soy wax can burn up to 50% longer than traditional paraffin wax, as it has a lower melting point. This means soy candles can burn for twice as long as traditional candles!

What are the different options of Soy Wax?

Soy wax can come in many different forms and blends such as ContainerPillar BlendNature Wax C3Golden Wax 464 and Golden Wax 494.

What are the benefits of soy wax?

The main benefit of soy wax is that it's derived from soybean oil. It is a renewable, eco-friendly alternative to paraffin wax. Because natural waxes have little impact on our environment, finished candles made from this type of wax can be marketed as a natural product.  Soy wax has a luxurious natural creamy colour and is less likely to soot than a paraffin candle if wicking is not quite right. The negatives for this wax is that the scent throw is not quite as strong as in paraffin, and wicking can be difficult in larger containers.

What is a soy melt?

A soy melt is a wax melt made from soy wax. It is recommended that Pillar Blend soy wax is used when making soy melts as Pillar Blend is a blend specifically developed for the production of pillar candles and wax melts/tarts.

How is soy wax made?

Soy wax is derived from the soybean. The soybeans are harvested and cleaned. They are then cracked, de-hulled, and rolled into flakes with the oil extracted from the flakes and hydrogenated. Hydrogenation is a process where the oil which was once a liquid at room temperature is processed to make them solid at room temperature, changing it into a wax.
