How To Reuse Candle Jars
Sustainability and recycling has never been more important in our modern world. From the materials you use to make your candles to giving your glassware a new lease of life after burning, there has never been a better time to think of ways to extend your candles life.
With such a range of decorative jars and gorgeous glassware on offer, recycling your candle glasses and giving them a new lease of life is a great way to help the planet and maybe even jazz up your home! There’s no point throwing away a beautiful candle glass just because it’s empty, below you’ll find a range of ways you can upcycle your old glasses and jars!
Refill services
An obvious but ingenious choice is to offer a refill service! Have your customers send back their used candle glasses for a refill! You could even offer a discount as a thank you token! This is also a great and innovative way to market your business - sustainable and eco-friendly, less packing, more candles! Read more about candle making in our blog here!
Plant perfection
A perfect way to reuse a used candle glass or jar is to use it as a plant pot! At Supplies for Candles we sell seeded dust covers which are also the perfect accompaniment to any candle glass that’s looking to live on! They are made from recycled waste paper which is embedded with seeds.
When the paper is planted the paper biodegrades while the seeds grow, leaving no waste.
They fit snugly onto our 20cl glasses but can also be used on our 30cl glasses with approx. a 5mm gap around the outside! When your candle is finished, fill the jar with 1-2cm of small stones, top it up with soil, place the seeded paper on top and cover with a final thin layer of soil. Water lightly and watch your plant grow!
Beauty essentials
A simple and maybe obvious option is general storage! Clean your candle glass with warm soapy water, remove any stickers and leave to dry before finding inspiration! Be it cotton buds, makeup brushes, cotton wool or general bits and bobs, your favourite decorative candle glasses can be reused to hold a range of your day to day beauty essentials!
Cupboard essentials
Especially important when handling food, thoroughly clean your candle glass with warm soapy water, remove any stickers and leave to dry. Clear candle jars that come with lids can be perfect for storing dried foods such as pasta, rice and lentils as long as they are washed properly! If you have opted for clear candle jars you can also take the opportunity to create fun stickers for your chosen ingredients!
Fun for the kids
Don’t forget who has the best imagination out there… children! Use old candle glasses to store pens, paintbrushes, marbles and much more! You could also use recycled candle glasses when crafting, fill with water for cleaning brushes and fill with paint and get creative and when you’re done they can easily be cleaned and used again!
Cleaning your candle glasses
The best way to clean an old candle glass is with plenty of hot water and soap! You may want to grab yourself an old sponge to help clean your jars with! Just remember to not pour wax down the sink! Once hardened, wax will block your pipes and cause blockages which could be an expensive payout.
