How to make Galaxy Wax Melts
These Galaxy Wax Melts are really fun to make and are the perfect little gift idea for your friends and loved ones. Here’s how to make them:
You will need:
-
Wax melt mould
-
Blue wax dye
-
Purple mica powder
-
Glitter
-
Hob/Hotplate/Double Boiler
-
Heatproof Bowl
-
Thermometer
-
Pouring Jug 2x
-
Fragrance oil (if you want)
- Measuring your wax
Measure out your wax. The moulds that we used fit about 50g of wax. But we put a bit more in to be on the safe side.
- Melt your wax
Put your wax into a heatproof bowl and put it on a pan half filled with water. Pop the pan on the hob over a low to medium heat, and wait for it to melt. Remember to check your wax’s instructions on how hot you can melt the wax to; for example we used our new ParaSoy Melt Wax which has a high melt temperature of 80C. Once melted leave the wax to cool, and add fragrance oil if you wish to use it.
- Divide the wax
Next up you will want to evenly split the wax up into two different pouring jugs. Make sure both jugs are nice and warm before pouring the wax in, as this helps the wax cooling too quickly. Next, in one jug you want to add a few drops of blue dye. Put more drops in to get a stronger colour. In the other jug put a few pinches of purple mica powder and stir well.
- Glitter
Sprinkle the glitter evenly over the bottom of your wax mould. Don’t go overboard with this as a little goes a long way.
- Pouring and setting
With your two jugs of wax in either hand (or get help from a friend) begin carefully pouring both jugs at either end of the wax mould. Go slow and steady as you don’t want to put air bubbles in the wax. What you should be left with is with purple and blue wax on either end of the mould, with both waxes bleeding into each other in the middle. Leave to set and cure for up to 2 weeks.
We’d love to see your work!
